Debbie Edwards | Rector's Wife and Unofficial PA

I was born and raised in Gloucestershire into a dairy farming family. I remember putting silage out for the cows one cold, sleety Christmas Day morning, and deciding that I didn't want to have a job that involved working at the weekend or at Christmas... so I file 'ending up as a Rector's wife' under the Lord having a very good sense of humour!

I grew up going to our local village church where my mother was churchwarden, but didn't really 'get' what it meant to be a Christian (despite being confirmed) until I went to university, where I was taken along to some fascinating talks as part of a university Christian Union mission. I was really struck by the gospel readings, and realised that I needed to respond to what I was hearing from the Bible.

After university, I moved to London to train as an accountant, working in public sector audit for one of the 'Big 4' professional services firms. While Tim was in training at 'vicar college' and in the early years of curacy, I worked as a Finance Manager/Director, but moved back into public sector audit a few years ago, and now work Mon-Thurs in London.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy pottering around the house, dressmaking, crochet, and trying to be better at gardening.

I am very pleased to be back in a village again, and am enjoying getting to know people in both Knockholt and Halstead.

** 'Unofficial PA' - I help free up Tim's time by helping him with various bits of admin (generally dealing with emails on my commute to/from work, so don't be surprised if you get a response to your email at an odd time!).
